Recently, the 2025 "Splendid Jiangsu" International Summer School was successfully concluded at our university. With the theme "Herbal Rhythms, Cultural Resonance," the program brought together nearly 80 young students from 26 countries, embarking on a journey blending traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) culture and academic exploration.
The opening ceremony of the Summer School was held on July 7th in Lecture Hall 111 on the Jiangning Campus. TheVice President Prof. Yao Hequan, extended a warm welcome to the young scholars who had traveled from afar. In his address, he emphasized that the university, leveraging its distinctive academic strengths and through the "Splendid Jiangsu" International Summer School platform, aims to provide a high-level academic exchange platform and valuable opportunities for cultural mutual learning for young people globally. This initiative helps them gain a deeper understanding of China's long history and splendid culture, particularly experiencing the unique charm of traditional Chinese medicine. Ms. Yu Juan, Assistant Provost of Saint Joseph's University in the United States, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech, expressing strong support for the program and high expectations for the participants. Representatives from both international and Chinese students shared their excitement about participating in the program and their eager anticipation for the learning journey.
During the two-week program, our university meticulously organized a rich variety of courses and practical activities. These included cutting-edge academic lectures, immersive TCM experiences and hands-on training, as well as field visits to renowned pharmaceutical companies, medical institutions, and cultural landmarks. Through these courses and practices, international students deepened their understanding of traditional Chinese medical wisdom. Through collaboration and communication, they found common ground among different cultures. Through exploration and experience, they gained profound academic insights.
This edition of the "Splendid Jiangsu" International Summer School continued to enhance its brand characteristics. Through a series of carefully designed academic and cultural experiences, it was dedicated to enabling international students to profoundly perceive the mysteries of TCM and the profound heritage of traditional Chinese culture. The event built a bridge for cultural exchange and academic mutual learning among youths from different countries, contributing positively to deepening global pharmaceutical education cooperation and promoting the flourishing of people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
